Optometrist
Dr. Chan was born in Mozambique, Africa, grew up in Figueira da Foz, Portugal, and moved to the U.S. prior to starting college. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Massachusetts Boston with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry. Subsequently, she earned her Doctorate of Optometry degree at the SUNY College of Optometry in Manhattan, New York, and was the recipient of the Charles and Mildred Schnurmacher Merit Scholarship for exceptional academic performance.
Upon completion of her degree, Dr. Chan became an associate doctor of optometry at NY Laser Group and Advanced Eye Care of New York. She worked with ophthalmologists specializing in cornea and glaucoma and gained valuable experience in co-managing LASIK, PRK, pterygium and cataract surgeries, glaucoma, and diabetic eye disease. Furthermore, Dr. Chan provided eye care at the Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.
Dr. Chan relocated to Rhode Island in 2006 to pursue professional opportunities at Westminster Eyecare Associates and 20/20 Vision Care, becoming a U.S. citizen shortly after. She provides comprehensive eye care to pediatric and adult patients, contact lens fittings, screening for ocular manifestations of systemic diseases, glaucoma diagnosis and treatment, management of anterior segment conditions, pre-and post-operative care for cataract and refractive surgeries, and treatment of ocular emergencies. After 20+ years of clinical experience, she established ClearView EyeCare, and is excited to continue providing exceptional eye care to patients!
She is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Rhode Island Optometric Association. Dr. Chan is fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish. In addition, she has basic knowledge of Cantonese. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, exercising, baking, and traveling.
